Description
Wesley Methodist Church is a Methodist church built in the late 19th century. It is constructed from squared granite rubble with stone dressings and features a slate roof adorned with crested ridge tiles and gable ends that have raised coped verges and finials on the front gable end. The church has a single auditorium plan, with the entrance located at the front gable end through a porch that leads to the ritual east at the rear. There are shallow transepts on each side of the building, designed in the Gothic style.
The exterior showcases a symmetrical two-storey front gable end with a plinth and buttresses. The shallow porch has a hipped roof and gable, with a moulded trefoil-arched doorway that includes plank double doors with strap hinges and lancet windows on either side. Above the porch is a large triple window featuring trefoil-headed lights, with the central light being taller and flanked by colonnettes, topped with a hoodmould. There is a breather above this window. On the right side of the church, there are three lancets to the left and two to the right, along with a shallow gabled transept that contains two lancets. The left side mirrors this arrangement. At the rear gable end, there is a stack with a brick shaft. The interior is not accessible.
