71-73, FORE STREET

Nos 71 to 73 on Fore Street in Topsham are irregularly designed buildings, featuring a mix of three-storey and two-storey plastered fronts. The structure may date back to before the 17th century. It has three gables at different heights, and part of the ground floor projects, with penthouse roofs above Nos 72 and 73. The buildings include 18th-century sash windows and wooden casements. There are remains of a circular stone pier on the left side of the yard entry. Part of the timber-framed structure is likely from the 16th century. The buildings have a total of four windows; No 72 features two tripartite sashes on the ground floor, while No 73 has a small-paned shop front. Inside No 71, there is a panelled screens passage. The roofs are covered with tarred slate, and there is a large chimney stack. All the listed buildings on Fore Street are part of a group.
