Description
Nos 27 to 29 on Fore Street in Topsham are two-storey and attic buildings with timber framing and plastered exteriors, dated 1697 on the door lintel of No 27. The three houses feature four gables, with Nos 28 and 29 having one and a half each. Modern shop fronts have been added to Nos 27 and 28. The buildings have two and three windows, with 19th-century sash windows. No 29 boasts well-crafted carved brackets and a fanlight above its doorway, while a heavy cornice is present at attic level. There are three gable windows, although the roof is not visible from the street. Nos 28 and 29 contain some paneling, molded ceilings, and staircases with heavy turned balusters. A rainwater head dated 1740 is located at the rear of No 28. Additionally, there is a carriageway leading to Trees Court through No 27. All the listed buildings on Fore Street are part of a group.
