1/129 Duntze Monument approximately - 3 metres north of aisle of Church of St Mary

GV II

Monument. Dated 1795 in memory of the Duntze family. Limestone. Monument stands approximately 3 metres high and comprises a large vas the lobed sides shaped like slender leaves, a broad rim with a fretwork design, and a moulded lid. It stands on a square section pedestal with soffit-moulded lid. The south and west of the panelled sides are inscribed with upper and lower case Roman serif lettering. The western side records the death of John Duntze, Bart., (d. 1795), and his wife, simply described as Lady Duntze, (d. 1789). On the south side the death of their grandson James, aged 12, (d. 1800) is recorded.
