Description
This is a monument to members of the Dunning family, located approximately 4½ yards southeast of the chancel of the Church of St Mary and All Saints. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of stone. The monument is designed as an obelisk, featuring an incised band halfway up and a shield with a wreath in a recessed circle on the north and west sides. The obelisk is set on a rectangular cushioned base with acroteria at the corners and a moulded stone plinth. The entire structure is elevated on three steps. The south side of the monument is dedicated to the memory of William Alexander Dunning of Maidstone, who died in 1831.
