Description
The lych gate to the Church of St. Mary and All Saints, dated 1875, is constructed of wood on a stone base and features a plain tile roof. It has a low wooden screen on the coping of the stone walls, which includes a roll-moulded top and incised panels with openwork circles surrounding carved crosses. The bargeboards create a large trefoil shape, with recessed cusps in each segment and three chamfered circular holes that contain recessed trefoils. The structure includes short solid braces connecting the tie-beams and wall-plates, along with a crown strut and queen post roof supported by purlins below the collar. Curved braces on either side of the crown strut extend from the tie-beam to meet between the purlins and collar. The west face of the tie-beam is inscribed with "In Memoriam January 21st. 1875." The gates feature a battlemented top rail. This lych gate is listed for its group value.
