Description

Little Slades Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the early 19th century, although some parts may be older. The building is constructed of plastered rubble, with some exposed areas at the rear, and possibly some cob. It has stone rubble or brick stacks topped with 19th or 20th-century brick, and a thatched roof. The house is L-shaped, with the main block facing southeast. To the left (southwest) is a two-room deep block that runs along the street and features a rear lateral stack. To the right is a taller two-room crosswing that projects slightly to the rear and has two outer lateral stacks, with the rear kitchen stack also projecting. The main entrance is now located at the back in the angle of the wings. The farmhouse has two storeys and an irregular three-window front, consisting of one window in the main block and two in the crosswing. All windows are 20th-century casements with glazing bars, except for two at the rear which lack glazing bars. The roofs of both the main block and the crosswing have hipped ends. The interior has limited exposed carpentry detail, which is plain, and the roof is inaccessible. The farmhouse is identified as Rockbeare Court Farm on the Ordnance Survey map.
