Description
Cartnell is a farmhouse that likely dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed from painted stone rubble and cob, topped with a slate roof featuring gable ends. The building has brick chimney stacks at both ends, with the right-hand stack made of stone rubble and projecting slightly. The layout consists of two rooms and a cross passage, with a 20th-century kitchen extension added to the rear right.
The exterior is two storeys high and features an almost symmetrical three-window front. There is a 19th-century plank door located near the center, which is sheltered by a 20th-century glazed porch. To the left of the door is a 20th-century two-light casement window, while to the right is a 19th-century three-light casement window with crown glass and stanchion bars. On the first floor, there is a one-light casement window near the center and to the left, and a 19th-century two-light casement window to the right.
Inside, the farmhouse has late 19th-century floor joists and 20th-century grates in the fireplaces.
