Description

Trelash House is probably a 17th century farmhouse, now a private house. It is built of stone rubble, partly rendered, and has a rag slate roof with gable ends. A brick shaft rises from an end stack on the right and another on the left, the latter overgrown with foliage. A brick shaft for a rear lateral stack is incorporated into a later outshut extension.

The original plan likely comprised three rooms and a through passage, with the entrance positioned to the right of centre. The lower end on the right was heated by an end stack; the hall to the left by a rear lateral stack; and the inner room beyond the left end stack. A small outshut extension stands to the rear left.

At the time of inspection in 1987, the house was considerably overgrown. The two-storey, asymmetrical front has a 19th century six-panel door with a slate hood to the right of centre. It is flanked by a 19th century 16-pane sash window to the right and likely one or two windows to the left. Two 3 over 6 pane sash windows are visible on the first floor, though the left-hand side of the house was obscured by foliage.

The interior of the house was not accessible. Further detailed inspection might clarify the chronology and development of the plan.
