Description

No. 281 is a cottage from the 18th century located in Figheldean, Ablington. It is constructed of rendered cob or chalkstone, with a brick gable end facing the road. The roof is thatched. The building is single storey with an attic and consists of two bays, which include a living room with an axial gable stack and a subdivided inner room. There is a lean-to outbuilding at the north end of the rear wall and another outbuilding on the south gable. The living room features a boarded door, while the windows are timber with panes, and there is one flush dormer on each side. The gable stack has been rebuilt, and the roof is hipped to the south.
