Description
No 270 is a cottage located in Ablington, dating from the 16th century and altered in the 17th century. It features a timber frame with brick noggings and a thatched roof. The building is single storey and consists of 2½ bays, which include a living bay, a parlour, and a narrow half-bay for services. There is a 20th-century door in the center bay, along with a smaller door leading into the end half-bay. The framing consists of two panels high, with part of a cruck blade visible on the gable end; the front counterpart has been replaced with a jowled post. The cottage has two and three-light timber casement windows. The roof is half hipped and includes a brick stack. Inside, there are two additional cruck couples, one featuring a Type E apex and the other cut down, both supported by collars and a single tier of purlins. Further interior details are not specified.
