Description

Hawthorn Cottage is an 18th-century cottage situated on the west side of The Street, Marden, and is attached to the left-hand side of No. 61. It is constructed of Malmstone, with the front face finished in brick. Originally a single-story, three-bay building, it was raised to two stories with the addition of a bay on the right-hand side, containing a glazed door and a side window. 19th-century paneled casement windows are set within segmental-headed openings. A linking bay connects it to No. 61, and this bay projects forward with a thatched roof that extends down to the ground floor eaves. A gable stack is positioned on the right-hand gable, before the added bay.
