Description

Marden Manor is an early 19th-century house located on the west side of The Street in Marden. It features Flemish brickwork that is rendered and lined on the front, topped with a slate roof. The building has two and three storeys, along with cellars. The front facade consists of three bays and is two storeys high, with a central entrance leading to a through hall, flanked by reception rooms and a staircase at the rear. The central bay is slightly set forward.

The entrance includes a six-panelled door with leaded fanlights, all sheltered by a shallow Tuscan portico supported by paired columns and accessed by three steps. Above the entrance is a balcony. The side bays have two-storey, slightly recessed arched windows on a moulded sill. The ground level features 15-pane tripartite sash windows with louvred shutters, while the first floor has 12-pane sashes above a moulded string course. All windows are adorned with moulded rendered panels beneath them.

The return elevations are three storeys high and consist of three bays with stone quoins, with the first bay having blank painted windows. The roof is composed of two parallel hipped sections with a smaller roof in between, culminating in a domed lantern over the main staircase. Inside, the front rooms have simple contemporary fire surrounds on the rear wall, complemented by iron fireplaces.
