Description
Highfield House is an early 19th-century house located on the east side of High Street in Cheverell Magna. It features Flemish brickwork and a slate roof, standing two storeys tall with a three-by-two bay layout. There is a contemporary rear wing of one bay, which was slightly later extended by three additional bays. The central stair hall includes an entrance with a six-panelled door and a plain fanlight, all framed by a Greek Doric portico made of Bath stone that is raised over three steps and now enclosed with margin glazed doors and sidelights. The windows are sixteen-paned sashes with concealed boxes, gauged brick lintels, and thin keystones, complemented by painted stone sills. Inside, the house has panelled shutters on the windows and contemporary fireplaces in the front reception rooms.
