Description
No 52 on High Street is a cottage dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and features a thatched roof. The building is two storeys high with two bays. There is a boarded door on the left side, leading to a heated bay, which has a simple pitched canopy above it. The windows are inset, with two lights and diamond leading, and are irregularly spaced, with three on the ground floor and two on the first floor. To the left, there is a pantiled lean-to, and to the right, a brick and pantiled addition that extends to the rear as a single-storey structure with a rear door. The right bay has a thatched canted bay window in the sitting room at the back. The roof is hipped to the right and features a rebuilt gable stack on the left. Inside, there is a large open greensand fireplace with a timber lintel that has lambs tongue moulding and bead arris, as well as an oven built into the fireplace. The spine beam has stop-chamfers with run-out stops, and the staircase is located against the rear right corner of the room.
