Description
No 2 is a house dating from around 1840, located on the north side of Church Street in Cheverell Magna. It features Flemish brickwork and a slate roof, standing two storeys tall with three bays. The layout includes a central stair hall plan that is two rooms deep, with raised brick quoins. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door topped by a radial fanlight set within an arched opening, accompanied by a wrought iron porch with a swept lead roof. The windows are sixteen-paned sashes with gauged brick lintels, and the eaves are boxed. The hipped roof has two brick stacks positioned between the front and rear rooms. Inside, the front reception rooms have contemporary fire surrounds. The front garden wall, also made of Flemish brickwork, features stone coping and rusticated limestone piers at the center and ends. Between these piers are iron arrowhead railings with dog rails, along with a matching central gate that has an arch brace and decorative hanging and meeting styles. The wall returns to the elevation of the house.
