Description
No 3 is a house located on Saint John's Street in Howden, dating from the late 18th century, with 19th-century windows and 20th-century restoration. The building is constructed of brick in Flemish bond and has a concrete tile roof. It stands three storeys high and features two bays. The entrance consists of a six-fielded-panel door topped by a radial fanlight, set within a pilastered doorcase that has an open pediment supported by consoles with patera. To the right of the door is a wide four-pane sash window.
On the first floor, there is a decorative band and four-pane sash windows, while the second floor has a similar band and squat four-pane sashes. The building has rendered wedge lintels and stone sills throughout, as well as a dentilled eaves course. The gable ends are raised and feature brick kneelers, with end stacks. The left gable end has been rebuilt. Inside, there is a closed-string staircase with slender turned balusters and six-fielded-panel doors.
