Description
Marden Mill and Mill House is a mill and mill house built around 1840. The structure is made of brick and has slate roofs. The house is two storeys high and consists of three bays, featuring a central stair hall plan. It has a six-panelled door with fanlights set within a painted brick arch, which is later covered by a swept metal open porch. The house also includes sixteen-paned sash windows with wedge lintels and stone sills. The roof is hipped to the left and has two stacks, with a lean-to conservatory on the left side.
Attached to the right of the house is the mill, located on the River Avon. The mill has a datestone inscribed with "GH" (George Hutchins) and the year 1842. It is three storeys high and also consists of three bays. There is a stable door in the first bay, and timber casement windows with segmental arches and keystones. A loading door is situated on the upper floor between the second and third bays. Although the water wheel was removed in 1932, some machinery remains inside the mill.
