Description

Milestone located 4 metres north of Pike House, dating from 1755-1756, associated with the Malmesbury Turnpike, featuring an early 19th-century mile plate. The milestone is made of limestone, square in shape with a cambered top, standing 0.5 metres high. On the east face, there is a cast iron plate inscribed with 'CHIPPEN.M/IX/MILES/MALMS.BY/I/MILE'.
