Description

This milestone, located on the west side of Malmesbury Road in Corston, dates from 1755-56 and was part of the Malmesbury Turnpike. It features a limestone post that is square in plan and has a cambered top, standing at 1 metre high. On the east face, there is an early 19th-century cast iron plate that reads: 'CHIPPEN.M/VIII/MILES/MALMS.RY/II/MILE'.
