Description

This is a milestone dating from 1755 to 1756, associated with the Malmesbury Turnpike, and features an early 19th-century mile plate. The milestone is made of limestone and has a square plan with a cambered top, standing 0.5 metres high. On the west face, there is a cast iron plate that reads: 'CHIPPEN.M/VII/MILES/MALMES.RY/III/MILE'.
