Description

This is a milestone located on Minety Road in Charlton, dating from 1755 to 1756, associated with the Malmesbury Turnpike. The milestone is made of limestone and has a triangular shape in plan, standing 1 metre high with a double-cambered top. It features a late 19th-century cast iron plate that reads: 'MINETY/4/MILES/MALMESB.Y/3/MILES'.
