Description

This is a milestone located on Charlton Road in St Paul Malmesbury Without, dating from 1755 to 1756, associated with the Malmesbury Turnpike. The milestone is made of limestone, triangular in shape, and stands 0.5 metres high, with a limewashed finish. On the north face, there is a late 19th-century cast iron plate that reads: 'MINETY/6/MILES/MALMESB.Y/I/MILE'.
