Description

This is a milestone located on the south side of Malmesbury Road in Brinkworth, dating from 1755 to 1756, associated with the Malmesbury Turnpike. The milestone is made of limestone and has a triangular shape with a double-cambered top, standing 1 metre high. On its north face, there is a late 19th-century cast iron plate that reads: 'SWINDON/12/MILES/MALMESB.Y/4/MILES'.
