Description
The Old School House is a former village school that has been converted into a detached house, dating from around 1850. It is built from squared and coursed rubble with stone dressings and features a stone slate roof, complete with tall pairs of lateral ashlar stacks at the end walls. The building is designed in the Cotswold vernacular style, intentionally resembling the nearby Village Farmhouse.
The north front is two stories high and has three windows, with the outer upper windows set beneath gables. The windows on the ground floor have chamfered cross-mullions and hoodmoulds, while the upper windows are 2-light cross-mullions, all featuring small pane leaded casements. A central gabled porch with a Tudor-arched entrance leads to a six-panel door. There is a 20th-century wing at the rear that is in a similar style, but the wing to the left is not of special interest.
