Description

This is a milestone dating from 1755-56, associated with the Malmesbury Turnpike, located on the south side of Crudwell Road in Hankerton. The milestone is made of limestone, square in shape with a cambered top, and stands 1 metre high. On its east face, there is a metal plate that reads: 'CIRENCESTER/8/MALMESBURY/3'. An early 20th-century mile plate is also present.
