Description
Murcott Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 17th century, with later additions from the 19th century. It features squared and coursed rubble construction, with flush rusticated dressed stone quoins, stone dressings, and ashlar copings and stacks. The roof is gabled and covered with stone slates, and the end stacks have been rebuilt. The building has an H-shaped plan, with the original 17th-century range positioned at right angles to the road, and the rear has T-shaped 19th-century additions.
The east front of the 17th-century range is two storeys high with an attic and consists of seven bays. The windows are flat section ovolo-moulded cross-mullions fitted with small pane casements, and there are three gabled dormers, each with two-light casements. A central 19th-century stone porch features a moulded architrave around the doorway, which contains a four-panel door. There is a moulded plinth course and a continuous string course at the first floor, with flush relieving arches above each window. Oval windows are present in the gable ends at attic level. The rear ranges have segmental-headed small pane casement windows. The interior is not accessible for viewing.
