Description

This is a semi-detached house located in Corston, dating from the early 17th century, with alterations from the 20th century and a rear addition. The exterior is constructed of coursed rubble with stone dressings, incorporating some concrete lintels. It has a steeply pitched gabled roof tiled with concrete on the west side and double Roman tiles on the east. The west front is two storeys and has a single window. A 20th-century casement window is present on the ground floor, and above it is an 8-light window with ovolo moulding, a central king mullion, and a hoodmould. The original doorway on the left side has been blocked, and a 20th-century doorway is set to the right, featuring a 20th-century plank door with a single light. The south wall has three single 17th-century windows, which originally gave onto a newel staircase located in the southwest corner. Inside, a ground floor room contains a large Tudor-arched fireplace with cable decoration on the spandrels, along with several stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. A further Tudor-arched fireplace is located on the staircase, decorated with paterae on the spandrels, and there are two moulded overmantels. The roof structure features butt-purlins.
