Description

Ilex House is a semi-detached house dating to the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble, originally faced with painted roughcast, and features rusticated dressed stone quoins, timber lintels, ashlar detailing to the parapet and copings, and an asbestos slate roof with ashlar stacks at each end. The east front has three stories and three windows. The ground floor includes two single-story 19th-century bays containing tripartite sash windows. The first floor has 12-pane sashes, and the upper floor has 6-pane sashes. A moulded cornice and blocking course run along the parapet. A 19th-century stone and ashlar porch is located on the right side of the east face, containing a 6-panel door, with a further 6-panel door and two 4-pane sashes on the north face. A rear wing features two gables and scattered sash windows, with a tall gabled late 19th-century tower situated on the right side. The interior has not been inspected. Group value is present in its setting within the area.
