Description
The Beeches is a former house, now a rest home, dating from the late 18th century with 19th-century alterations. The building is constructed of rubble that is rendered and colourwashed, featuring ashlar stone on the bays of the south front, with ashlar copings and gabled stone slate roofs supported by end brick stacks on stone bases. It has a U-shaped plan and the south front is two storeys high with three windows.
The outer bays are two-storey canted structures from the 19th century, which include 2-pane sash windows, while the central section features an upper 18th-century Venetian window with moulded abaci and a keystone, along with a central 6-pane sash window that has a 'Y' traceried head and sidelights. There is a central doorway with an engaged Doric porch and a part-glazed door, accessed by steps. The building has moulded string courses at the first and second floors on the bays, and a moulded string course below the blocking course parapet of the recessed centre section. Two gabled dormers are present, masked by bay parapets, and there is an additional doorway and sash windows on the east side wall. The interior has not been inspected.
