Description
This property comprises three buildings, 107, 113, and 115 High Street, initially two houses extended to the rear. The building’s origins lie in the early 17th century, with later extensions from the 18th century, unified and refronted in the early 19th century. The construction is of limestone rubble with brick gable stacks and two stone slate roofs of differing heights. It features a single-depth plan with a rear right-hand wing.
The exterior is two stories high, with a four-window front. The right-hand section has a higher roofline and gable stacks at each end, with a central through-passage unifying the two sections behind an early 19th-century front featuring a tall parapet. Timber lintels are present above two canted shop bays on the left-hand side. Adjacent windows are present to the right of each shop bay. There are two first-floor windows, with a left-hand sash window, ten panes wide, in an exposed frame, along with 20th-century casement windows. A doorway is located within the passage on the right-hand side. The rear of 113 is rendered and features late 20th-century windows and a door.
Internally, the property has been altered mid-century. A low cellar exists with a tunnel cut into the rock at the front, and the roof is partially obscured with 20th-century purlins. The left-hand and rear ranges of 115 and 113 contribute to the layout.
