Description
A pair of early 19th-century houses located on Spa Road in Melksham. The houses are constructed of ashlar and have a Welsh slate mansard roof with stone and brick stacks, and coped verges topped by a finial on the right side. They are two storeys high with a basement and attic, featuring three windows across the front. The main entrance consists of two six-panelled doors, each with a fanlight set within an arched opening. Below, three ground floor windows are 12-pane sashes. There is a plat band above the ground floor, and three further 12-pane sashes illuminate the first floor. Three 12-pane dormer windows, each with a flat roof, are set into the mansard roof. The basement level contains three flat-mullioned windows with two lights. The right return side displays a single 12-pane sash and a 9-pane sash leading to the attic. The rear elevation is constructed of squared rubblestone, rising to four storeys with three windows. The first floor drawing rooms feature round-arched sashes. A Sun Fire Insurance disc is affixed to the front wall of number 38.
