Description
No 16 on Spa Road is an early 19th-century house that is part of a row of buildings. It features painted ashlar stonework and a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate, along with brick chimney stacks. The house is designed in the Regency style and has three stories with three windows across its façade.
The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door set within a wrought iron porch that has a tent canopy. To the left of the door is a 12-pane sash window framed by a reeded segmental-arched panel, while to the right is a rusticated bow front with triple-light sash windows. A guilloche band runs along the first floor, which has two sash windows with wrought iron balconies on the left and a plain bow front with triple-light sashes on the right.
On the second floor, there is a plat band, with nine-pane sashes to the left and additional sashes in the bow front to the right. The left part of the building features pilasters with stucco decoration. The bow front on the right has an ornamental plaster cornice and a blocking course. This house has group value with No 18, forming a pair of Regency houses that are connected by a central bay of blind windows.
