Description
56 and 58 Chester Street are a pair of mid-19th century houses located in Cirencester. The front of the buildings is made of limestone ashlar, while the sides are constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble. They have a Welsh slate roof, with an ashlar stack on the left end and a rendered stack on the right end. The houses are three storeys tall with a cellar and feature a four-window range.
On the first floor, there are four 6/6-pane sash windows with plain reveals and projecting cills. The second floor has four similar 2/2-pane sash windows. The ground floor includes two 6/6-pane sash windows and two doors: a six-panel door to the left (No. 58) and a 20th-century door to the right (No. 56), each with a single-pane overlight in a round-headed opening. There are also two openings to the cellar beneath the ground floor windows, set in an ashlar plinth. The building features band courses above the first and second floors. The interiors have not been inspected.
