Description

Nos 144 and 146 on Water Street are two semi-detached cottages built in the late 17th century and 19th century. They are made of painted rubble stone and feature a hipped thatched roof with brick stacks. The cottages are arranged in an 'L' plan with the gable end facing the road.

The buildings are two stories high and have two windows, with casement windows throughout. There is a 20th-century door located in a recessed porch on the right, and a three-light casement window to the left. On the first floor, there are two two-light casements. The projecting wing at the front has three two-light casements and one one-light casement. The gable end includes a half-glazed door leading to No 146 and two-light casements. The right side of the building has a planked door and a three-light casement, along with two two-light casements in eyebrow dormers.

Inside, the cottages feature chamfered beams with stepped stops and blocked open fireplaces.
