Description
The Stores is a shop and house located in Orcheston St. Mary, dating from the 17th century with 19th-century alterations. The building is constructed of cob and features a Welsh slate roof and a brick stack. It is two stories high with four windows. The entrance is to the left, set in a gabled porch, and there are two small-paned casement windows in the center. Flanking a half-glazed door are a pair of 19th-century round-arched windows, and to the right are two planked double doors. On the first floor, there are additional 2-light casement windows, with weatherboarding to the left of the double doors and a planked door to the right. Inside, the building has chamfered beams. The exterior represents a fine example of a late 19th-century village shop and cottage.
