Description
ORCHESTON ORCHESTON ST. MARY SU 04 NE (west side) 2/189 The Old Rectory II Detached house. Mid-C17, C18 alterations and late C20 remodelling. Brick with flint and limestone bands, tiled hipped roof, brick stacks. 2-storey, 4-window front. Door in C20 porch to right of centre has blocked elliptical arch over, to left are two 2-light casements, to right is one 2-light casement, first floor has four 2-light casements; all with leaded glass and segmental heads; dentilled eaves cornice in brick. Attached to left is C20 garage and to right single-storey extension. Left and right returns are windowless. Rear has 3-light, 2-light ovolo-mullioned windows, glazed door and 3-light ovolo-mullioned window to ground floor, first floor has one 4-light and two 2-light ovolo-mullioned windows; all with hoodmoulds. To roof are three C20 dormers. Interior not accessible at time of survey (October 1984), but said to be extensively altered. Included despite late C20 restoration of entrance front and interior, because of C17 plan and sufficient features retained.
