Description
Wharf Cottage is an early 19th-century building located on Marsh Road. It is two storeys high and features three windows. The exterior is made of painted stone, with a two-storey wide gabled extension that continues to the wharf. The building has a rubble structure topped with a pantile roof and includes two ranges of windows facing the canal. The main house has slab surrounds to the windows, which are fitted with sashes that have marginal glazing. An outside staircase is located on the north side, and there are pigeon holes in the northeast corner. Decorative horizontal bands of fish scale tiles adorn the exterior, and there are brick chimneys at the gable ends. A central porch with a tented canopy is present, along with small windows facing the road. Wharf Cottage, along with Nos 2, 4, and Nos 1 and 3, forms a group with the Kings Arms on Wyke Road.
