Description
Wyke Cottage is a 17th-century building located on Wyke Road. It is two storeys high and features a square panel timber frame with a raised roof covered in double Roman tiles. The northern side has ten panels with brick and stone infill, some of which are rendered, and a gable on the left. Blocked timber lintel windows can be seen in the gable. There is a central brick chimney stack with a mid-19th century cogged band, along with another chimney. The eastern return is made of rubble with large stone quoins, and the upper courses are brick on a timber plate. On the first floor, there are two three-light casement windows, and on the ground floor, there are two windows with ovolo mullions and a common drip. To the left of the façade, there is a doorway with a moulded edge and blocks at the plinth. One of the quoins on the left is dated "R, 1669 D." (Richard Deverell). Inside, the lintel from a large fireplace has been removed, and there is a blocked three-light mullion window in the pantry.
