Description

The canal bridge at Staverton, built around 1810, carries the B3105 over the Kennet and Avon Canal. It is constructed of limestone ashlar, with some areas of brick patching. The bridge features a single arch with a raised keystone, a plat band at road level, and a parapet with rounded coping and end pilasters. The towpath runs within the bridge on the north side. An iron footbridge from the 20th century has been added to the east side. John Rennie was the canal engineer responsible for its design.
