Description

Quayside House is an early 19th century brick house, situated on Waterside. It is a three-storey building with a front parapet, originally featuring a three-window front. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, although ground-floor windows do not have this feature, and are set in painted reveals beneath stuccoed flat arches. A two-storey wing with attics extends to the rear, northwest of the main building, also featuring a three-window range of double-hung sash windows. A raised brick band runs between the storeys of the wing. The doorway has a stucco doorcase with pilasters and a cornice. The roof of the main block is slate and hipped, while the tiled roof of the rear wing has two flat-headed dormers and a dentilled brick eaves course. The building is included on the list for its group value, forming a setting with nearby properties including numbers 52A, 52 and 33 to 47 (odd), 51 to 53 (consecutive), the Malthouse, 55, the Wharf, and 54 to 64 (even) Quayside.
