Description
Ivychurch Farmhouse is a 19th-century farmhouse constructed with flint and limestone chequers, featuring a tiled roof and a stone stack. The building is two stories high and has two windows. The entrance door is located on the first floor and is accessed by steps on the gable end. It includes a reused Tudor arched door with a blind stone arch to the right. The first floor has 20th-century cast-iron casements and a large Perpendicular panel adorned with quatrefoils. Several fragments of carved stone incorporated into the gable end wall and the rest of the building originate from the site of the Augustinian Priory on which the farmhouse is situated. The right side of the building features 20th-century casements alongside a 19th-century casement with a large projecting stone and flint stack. The left side has similar windows. There is a single-storey 20th-century extension at the rear. Although the interior is not accessible, the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments recorded three pairs of crucks on the first floor and roof, which are boxed-in and likely reused. The roof includes reused timbers, with a tie beam supported by queen struts to the collar. The ground floor was raised in the 1950s to lower the height. The farmhouse has group value with the nearby priory ruins and garden walls.
