Description

The remains of the Augustinian Priory at Ivychurch Farmhouse date back to the 12th century. Constructed from limestone ashlar, the surviving structure includes a cylindrical pier with a multi-scalloped capital and part of a double-chamfered arch, which features a respond to the west with a half-pier and capital. This remains attached to the west wall of the church, which still has one buttress. The west wall has been integrated into the 19th-century garden walls of Ivychurch Farmhouse to the north, while to the south, it connects to the west wall of a 17th-century walled garden. The Augustinian priory was founded by Henry II in the 12th century.
