Description

Cherry Tree Cottage is a detached 18th-century cottage situated on the south side of Old Road in Alderbury. The cottage is constructed of Flemish bond brick, with a concrete tiled roof that has coped verges and kneelers, and gable-end stacks. An integral outshut is located to the rear. The cottage is two storeys high and has three windows. A central gabled porch with kneelers to the coped verge contains a 20th-century round-arched glazed door with a semicircular hood mould above. The ground floor windows on either side of the porch are cast iron casements with flat arches under hood moulds. The first floor windows are also cast iron casements, with a circular window featuring cast iron glazing bars positioned centrally. The returns of the cottage are windowless. The interior has not been inspected. Cherry Tree Cottage is a good example of an estate cottage, similar in style to Yew Tree Cottage on Folly Lane.
