Description

Ashlers is a detached house built in the late 18th century, with extensions from the late 19th century and alterations made in the 20th century. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar and features an asbestos slate roof with coped verges and brick stacks at the gable ends. It is two stories high and has three windows across the front. The entrance consists of a 20th-century door set within a pedimented surround, which has an inserted flat stone hood. On either side of the door are 12-pane sash windows, each framed by beaded architraves with cornices. The first floor has three additional sash windows, also in beaded architraves. There is a 20th-century rooflight on the roof. The right side of the house has an 8-pane sash window on the ground floor, and there is an added rear outshut. A late 19th-century two-story addition is attached to the left side, featuring 4-pane sash windows and a planked door.
