Description
The gatepiers and walls at Maplecroft date from the 18th century and are located on the east side of Bath Road, set back from the road to the southwest of the house. The two square gatepiers are approximately 8 feet high and feature banded rustication with entablatures on top. These piers are connected to two small sections of ashlar walls, which have plain coping and rise to about 2.5 to 3 feet in height. The walls curve outward towards the road in both directions and terminate with flat pilasters. The gatepiers and walls, along with Maplecroft and the pigeon-cote, form a cohesive group.
