Description

These gate piers, flanking walls, piers, and railings date from the early 19th century, with later 19th-century repairs. The walls are built of ashlar and have gritstone copings. The gate piers are approximately 2.5 metres high and feature recessed panels, a deep cornice, and an eagle decoration. Curved flanking walls, around 25 metres in length, are constructed of three courses of stone with piers spaced at regular intervals; the wall on the left extends to enclose the Lodge House. These walls have cornices and flat capstones and are connected by railings fixed to the wall coping. The railings feature short vertical standards topped with ball finials, joined by two plain horizontal rails. The components are listed as a group.
