Description

Potticks House is a detached house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a hipped Welsh slate roof and stone stacks to the rear. The house is arranged in an L-shape and has three storeys and three windows to the front. The central doorway features six fielded panels, a fanlight in a round-headed architrave, and an Ionic portico with iron finials. Flanking the doorway are twelve-pane sash windows. The first floor has three sashes, a plat band, and the second floor has three nine-pane sashes, topped by a moulded cornice to a plain blocking course. A right return has plate glass sashes within a late 19th-century conservatory, with a twelve-pane sash on the first floor and a nine-pane sash on the second floor. The rear elevation includes a two-storey lean-to with paired twelve-pane sashes, a mid-19th-century wing to the left featuring sashes and French windows, and a lean-to to the right with a 20th-century extension. The interior retains original joinery, including six-panelled doors, window shutters, and a staircase with stick balusters. The building demonstrates group value through its architectural style and detailing.
