Description
This is a row of four 18th-century houses located on Market Street, stepped down a hillside. The houses are faced with ashlar and have modern pantile roofs, moulded cornices, and plain parapets. Each house is three stories high with one window per floor; the windows are sash windows, although the glazing bars are missing. The right-hand side of each house has a square-headed door topped with an open pediment supported by brackets. Late 19th-century shop fronts have been added to the ground floors. Numbers 5 to 8 (consecutively), along with a boundary wall at Priory Lodge, form a group with numbers 10 to 35 (consecutively) and an elevated pavement in front of number 21.
