Description

Three houses located at the end of a row on Priory Place, built in the mid-19th century with 20th-century alterations. The houses are constructed from limestone ashlar and feature slate roofs. Each house has two storeys and two windows.

No. 158 has a double roof and a semi-basement at the rear. It features two wide-spaced twelve-pane sash windows above a paired eight-pane sash, with an off-centre right door that includes a transom light and a slab hood with a cavetto edge supported by brackets. There is an eaves band and coped gables. The rear has two twelve-pane windows at each level, plus 20th-century steel French casement doors to the basement on the right. The entrance is centered on six steps, leading to a glazed door in a square porch with solid cheeks.

No. 160 is stepped down from No. 158 and has twelve-pane sashes above a plain sash and a four-panel door with a slab hood featuring a cavetto edge. It also has an eaves band. No. 162 is similar to No. 160, but its door has an ogee-curve hood with a scalloped edge. To the left, there are plain double gables, which are coped and have ashlar stacks.

The interiors have not been inspected. This group of houses is situated at the east end of a long row of modest buildings facing the high boundary wall of Prior Park on the opposite side of the road.
